What is Raja Yoga Meditation?

Raja Yoga Meditation is a comprehensive practice that focuses on mastering the mind and achieving self-realisation. Rooted in the classical teachings of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, it includes the 'eight limbs of yoga': ethical principles (yama), personal discipline (niyama), physical postures (asana), breath control (pranayama), withdrawal of the senses (pratyahara), concentration (dharana), meditation (dhyana) and ultimate enlightenment (samadhi).

The practice aims to cultivate mental discipline, deep concentration and inner peace. Techniques such as visualisation and mantra repetition help to align the mind with spiritual truths, leading to a profound understanding of one's true self and a state of oneness with the divine or universal consciousness.
