Uniting Cultures Through Artistic Excellence

The Sabah Arts Studio Association (PSSS) is pleased to organise the Malaysian Dance Drama Championship 2023 to be held at the Dewan Resital, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) from 24 to 26 November 2023.

This championship marks a significant leap from the success of our Sabah Dramatari Competition 2022, which was held triumphantly at the Resital Hall of Universiti Malaysia Sabah.

Building on this success, the Sabah Arts Studio Association is keen to expand the programme on a larger scale, involving the various ethnic groups from across Malaysia. This event is very important in line with the government's vision of uniting the people of Malaysia through the Malaysia Madani programme, while adding vibrancy to the artistic atmosphere in the state of Sabah.

Seven of the Malaysia's best drama and dance groups will compete in the final (see line-up below).

Dance Drama?

The term "dance drama" refers to a form of performance that combines elements of both dance and dramatic storytelling. In this type of production, dancers use their bodies, movements, and expressions to convey a narrative or tell a story.

The choreography is often structured to communicate the plot, characters, and emotions, making it a visually compelling and emotionally engaging experience for the audience.
