Dr. Elizabeth is an anthropologist with extensive academic training in cultural anthropology, holding degrees from the University of Edinburgh, the University of Manchester, and the University of Queensland. She is also trained in theology at Oxford University. Throughout her career, Dr. Elizabeth has taught anthropology and education at institutions in Queensland, Melbourne and Heidelberg, Germany.

Her doctoral dissertation, entitled "Too Hot, Too Cold, Just Right: Social Relations in a Kadazan Village in Sabah, Malaysia," explores the complexities of social dynamics in the Kadazan community. Dr. Elizabeth's research focuses primarily on the cultural practices of indigenous communities in Sabah, Malaysia, with an emphasis on how relationships and domestic environments shape people's lives.

In this presentation, Dr. Elizabeth will explore the historical and cultural development of a Lower Labuk kampung (village) between 1925 and 1975. Drawing on her extensive research in the region, she will explore how local communities adapted to environmental, social and political changes during this period, providing valuable insights into the transformation of village life in Sabah.
