Shaping Public Spaces for a Greener Sabah
The Sabah Ministry of Local Government and Housing (Kementerian Kerajaan Tempatan dan Perumahan Sabah, KKTP) is pleased to invite you to the Sabah Landscape Architecture Day (SLAD) 2024.
This event celebrates the love of landscape and promotes green living for a more sustainable, liveable environment.
Landscape architecture is the art of understanding and designing a variety of landscapes. It includes the creation of public spaces, parks and recreational areas, as well as urban design. It also includes environmental restoration, multi-scale spatial planning, and the preservation of historic and cultural landscapes.
Exploring Sustainable Landscape Solutions
A special highlight of the day will be the Sabah Landscape Exchange (SLEX Pocket Talk), where local and international professional landscape architects will share their insights on some inspiring topics:

Other engaging activities throughout the day include:
- Beach aerobics and beach clean-up volunteer activities
- Competitions such as Instagrammable Art Deco and Eco Art Installations
- An Eco Free Market where you can freely exchange items, reduce waste and support sustainability
Explore exhibitions and interactive activities from government agencies, private groups and nonprofits. Enjoy hands-on demonstrations of green products, crafting workshops (such as eco-friendly soap, compost fertilizer, seed paper crafts, cupcakes and slime) and creative innovations such as terrariums, beaded crafts and upcycled products. There will also be technique demonstrations in plant grafting, dot-paint art, and more.
In addition, there will be food and drink stalls, thrift exchanges, tree sapling giveaways, waste oil recycling, affordable community sales, and a showcase of traditional Borneo music and performances. For the kids, there's an inflatable playground and trampoline area.
