Transcultural Art Residency

We are pleased to invite you for the Artist Talk by the Pangrok Sulap collective and Bethan Maddocks at Ruang Tamu Ekosistem.

This event aims to share the collaborative experiences of both artists in the SAMA SAMA program, a Transcultural Art Residency that brings artists from Malaysia and the United Kingdom together to initiate creative relationships and collaborations through artistic innovation, cultural understanding, and community collaboration.
It's proudly supported by the British Council: Connections Through Culture grant program.

Throughout the program, artists Bethan Maddocks and Pangrok Sulap explored various communities in Sabah, gaining insights into global issues like ecological sustainability and the identity of marginalised communities. Save the date!

Special Performance

Don't miss the special perfomance by Tuni Sundatang a band founded by an instrument revivalist who did research of the Boat Lute of Borneo in various locations across the region.

Based in Ranau, this unique band blends traditional North Borneo instruments with fusion elements, using music as a powerful tool to both educate and celebrate their local culture.

About Ruang Tamu Ekosistem

Ruang Tamu Ekosistem is an arts community centre run by various local collectives in Sabah. It is based in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia.
