Wong Kueng Hui, Activist & Former Stateless Person
Wong, a Sabahan from Keningau, began his journey towards citizenship at 12. Despite legal hurdles and government appeals, he triumphed in 2023, securing his citizenship at 28.
After a prolonged legal battle, Wong, aged 28, finally obtained his Malaysian citizenship and MyKad in Putrajaya, marking the end of his 16-year struggle.
Now he aspires to further his education and advocate for the eradication of statelessness in Malaysia.
Nurul Rafeeqa, Legal Expert
A graduate of the University of London with a bachelor of Laws (Hons) and CLP, she was admitted to the High Court in Sabah and Sarawak in 2014. In 2023, she earned her Master of Criminal Justice from University Malaya.
In her career, she specializes in criminal and civil litigation, championing criminal law and human rights. As Vice President of Sabah Human Rights Centre (SHRC), she tirelessly advocates for justice and equality.
Anne Baltazar, Social Science Specialist
Currently pursuing her PhD in Social Science and has fifteen years of experience in human rights and non-profit work especially relating to children's rights, statelessness and labour issues.
She founded Advocates for Non-Discrimination and Access to Knowledge (ANAK), an NGO that advocates for the rights of non-citizen children on the margins of Sabah.
