Japanese Cultural Night

Celebration of Japanese traditions, arts and cuisine at UMS

The Japanese Cultural Club, University Malaysia Sabah (UMS) is proud to host the Japanese Cultural Night 2023 (JCN).

The Japanese Cultural Night is an annual event held at Padang Kawad, UMS with enchanting lanterns and light decorations. The main objective of this event is to promote the beauty of Japanese culture to the people of Sabah.

It is generously supported by the Japanese Consular Office in Kota Kinabalu Malaysia (JCO), Kinabalu Japanese School (KJS) and the Japanese Cultural & Travel Information Centre (JCTIC).

Event highlights

This year's JCN will feature a variety of Japanese performances including Bon Dance (Bon Odori), Soran Bushi, Akido, Kendo and Karate.

Japanese culinary delights will be available for attendees with local Japanese food vendors.

For those wishing to try out traditional japanese attire, some yukatas will be available for hire.

Visitors can also enjoy traditional Japanese games such as menko, fukuwarai, kendama and daruma otoshi.

Cult (Cars Urban & Lifestyle Trends) will also provide a car show at the event.
