Musical Crossroads: A Journey Through Time and Genre

Chamber Music Concert Series 1

In collaboration with the Academy of Arts & Creative Technology (ASTiF, UMS), the Jesselton Philharmonic Orchestra (JPO) will be organising the Chamber Music Concert Series 1 on Saturday, 7 October 2023 at 2pm at the Dewan Resital, UMS.

The theme of this concert is "Musical Crossroads: A Journey through Time and Genre".

We will present a variety of group combinations and genres of music from different historical periods and musical styles consisting of baroque delights, classical elegance, romantic emotions, modern explorations of contemporary music such as film soundtracks, jazz and popular music.

We will feature chamber groups such as a string ensemble with piano and percussion, string quartet, flute-piano-violin/viola trio, harp solo, wind ensemble, piano 4/8 hands and more.

By following this thematic structure, we can take you on a musical journey through different periods and genres, showing the versatility of chamber music and the richness of the classical tradition, while also embracing innovation and fusion in contemporary compositions.

The Jesselton Philharmonic Orchestra is made up of primary, secondary and tertiary students as well as working adults and professional musicians from across Sabah.

The Jesselton Philharmonic Orchestra was established in 2007 to make a significant musical contribution to the cultural life of the community and to provide opportunities for musical growth for its members and audiences through creative direction, excellence in performance and educational outreach.
